Trying to kick my lazy Pagan arse into gear!

A little over 18 months ago I got an invitation to my first moot.  I’d never been to one before but had always been curious about them.  But living in a smallish town, being a non-driver and not knowing any other Pagans, I never managed to get to one.  But now there was one being set up in my local town and nervously I decided to go.  I say nervously because I always felt that I wasn’t, how do I put this….. Pagan “enough”.  My sole experience of other Pagans had been online and from books.  Everyone seemed so much more experienced, confident and well….. more (stereotypical?) Pagan than me.  Plus I even didn’t know how to describe myself really…. what type of Pagan am I?   Should I have been worried?  No.  Granted it was a new Moot so it was very small for the first few months, but I have to say I am SO glad that I took the plunge.  My Mooties have become such good friends.  They have changed my life for the better.  I have had, personally, a very difficult year but having the Mooties as friends and having the Moots to attend regularly kept me going through that year, kept me sane even.

And about that stereotypical Pagan thing.  Well, maybe our Moot differs from others, I don’t know, but I fit in perfectly well.  It’s ok that I don’t know what ‘box’ I fit into… in fact it’s ok not to fit into a ‘box’ at all!  If you consider yourself Pagan, if you’re curious about Paganism… or if you just want to mix with tolerant accepting folk, you’re welcome to attend our Moot.  And that is all good as far as I’m concerned.

So there I was busy doing nothing on Facebook again, when I get a wee message from one of my Mooties, (my what? My Mooties.  This is what members of our local Moot affectionately call each other)  telling me he had finally got around to starting his blog and would I like to have a look.  So I did.  It was, of course, genius and typically him.  But in order to comment and/or like, I had to sign up.  So I did.  And then I got prompted into creating my own blog.  So I did.  And here I am, wondering what the ecky-peck I am doing and what the ecky-peck is going on as I am so incredibly t’internet unsavvy when it comes to things like blogs and such.  So if this all looks a bit amateur, please forgive my whilst I get into the swing of things.

So what am I going to do here?  I really don’t know.  Maybe I shall follow my friend’s lead and use it as a tool to kick my lazy arse into action.  I consider myself to be Pagan for about ten years now but most of the time I’ve been a bit rubbish and let life get in the way of being a “Practising Pagan” and been more of a “Let’s read another book” Pagan.  And then things changed….. about 18 months ago, I got a Facebook message about a new Moot being set up in my local town, and there I have met some wonderful people.  Things have progressed and we set up study groups, book groups and even evenings of The Big Questions type events.  And so my lazy arse go kicked into gear a little bit.  But there’s always more I could do…. so here goes.

Oh, and my good friend?  Well he is here:
